CAOS 2018: Editor's PrefaceCAOS 2018: Editors' Preface About the volume: This volume contains the papers presented at CAOS 2018: the 18th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery, which was held on 6-9 June 2018 in Beijing, China. There were 94 accepted submissions. Each submission was reviewed by four program committee members, two of whom clinical and two with a technical background. Authors of 52 of these opted into this open access pilot. About the conference: Surgery has been revolutionized by the development of CAOS techniques over the past decades, and this has led to a significant improvement in accurate positioning and planning, within the constraints of a limited surgical field, especially in minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery. New surgical models have been established for intelligent minimally invasive approaches, efficient planning and precise execution. Nowadays, artificial intelligence and robot-assisted technologies have flourished all over the world and injected new vitality into orthopaedic surgery. CAOS 2018 focused on the clinical and engineering techniques behind CAOS, with the theme of Computer Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery (CAMIS). The invited speakers at home and abroad gave us brilliant speeches in the field of navigation and robotics. The latest advances were displayed in various modes, such as surgery video demonstrations, seminars, case reports, poster presentations, workshops and satellites. The meeting was held concurrently with CAOS-I in China, which provided local hospitals, schools, research institutes and enterprises dedicated to CAOS with a platform for communication, and an opportunity to promote joint progress. Doctors, engineers, researchers, and business representatives who engage in the research and application of orthopaedic navigation and robotics, were welcomed to the conference. Together, we made contributions to the advancement of CAOS technologies in China and the world. In collaboration with:
