The distributed identity management is envisioned as a promising method. However, performance evaluation is still not extensive. In this paper, we proposed a decentralized identity management scheme based on blockchain, which can be applied for large scale Internet of Things such as VANET. We develop smart contracts to support large scale user access and design penalty mechanism which can prevent various types of attacks in distributed identification. The experiment results justified that our scheme can be employed for the distributed management of a large number vehicles in insurance scenarios. Specifically, the system response is 'ms' level and all the functions consumes within 250ms. Also, the time consumption of query is stable with the increase of users between 80ms to 130ms.
