The Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Madras is excited to announce the call for papers for the annual Research Symposium to be held on 30 - 31 January 2025. This in-house research symposium invites research scholars from DoMS, IIT Madras to submit their papers. The event aims to foster greater inclusion of scholars across all domains, promote engagement and interaction among scholars and faculty members, and provide an excellent platform for department scholars to showcase their ongoing research work. The symposium also offers a unique opportunity for scholars to discuss their research topics and seek collaborative support from faculty members in all domains.
Submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind review process by an expert review panel comprising faculty members and researchers. The panel will evaluate each submission and provide constructive feedback, in addition to the chance to win exciting prizes.
We invite the following categories of paper submission under two tracks from research scholars:
A. Advanced Research Track
- Empirical papers
- Review papers
B. Early Research Track
- Work-in-progress papers
Research scholars can select the category that best fits their work and prepare their submissions accordingly. All submissions should consist of original work and must not have been published elsewhere. One author can submit a maximum of two submissions across all the categories of submissions. The submission guidelines for each paper category are as follows:
Paper categories to be submitted under Advanced Research Track:
1. Empirical papers
We welcome submissions elaborating on novel concepts, methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches having theoretical and practical implications under this category. These papers are expected to follow a rigorous and well-documented format similar to reputed journal submissions. Authors must provide a brief introduction, appropriate theoretical background, research objectives, methodology, findings, discussion of results and contribution to the current knowledge domain.
2. Review papers
Submissions providing a well-structured overview of the existing literature in a particular area of management discipline are invited in this category. This review paper should highlight the rationale for choosing the research methodology and distinguish their review paper from other review papers in the same domain. The review paper should systematically review the existing empirical and theoretical studies, and methods employed and critically analyze their research findings. Authors can select various themes to critically review methodologies, empirical insights, theories and literature gaps.
Paper categories to be submitted under Early Research Track:
1. Work in progress paper
Submissions on ongoing research work with promising contributions that are yet to be completed in the management discipline are invited under this category. Working papers describing theoretical framework, initial stage empirical results or novel methodology design fall under this category. Authors may explain their work and how they propose to finalize their study. Please note that completed research should not be submitted in this category.
Submission Guidelines
The manuscripts submitted as full papers and work-in-progress papers are expected to adhere to the following GUIDELINES:
1. Papers should be submitted as a PDF document
2. Authors might check for plagiarism in their final papers before submission
3. The paper PDF document should not contain the author's details
4. All contributing authors’ names should be included with full names, and email addresses in the submission portal only
5. The length of the paper includes overall textual data, tables, figures and references
- Empirical papers : 6000 - 8000 words
- Review papers. : 7000-10000 words
- Work-in-progress paper : 4000-7000 words
6. The margins should be kept at 1’’ on all sides.
7. Times New Roman with a font size of 12 and double spacing should be considered.
8. References should follow the APA referencing style.
9. Submitted manuscript should include and not be restricted to the following sections:
- Structured abstract- Maximum is 250 words
- Abstract constitutes several sub-headings: Purpose, Design/ Methodology/ Approach, Findings, Research limitations, Implications (if applicable), Practical/social/theoretical implications and originality/Value
- Keywords: Authors should provide appropriate and short keywords (3 - 6 keywords)
- Introduction
- Literature review/Theoretical background/Hypothesis development
- Research Methodology
- Findings/Discussions
- Limitations/Implications
- Conclusion
