Robots for Humans is a community-driven workshop that brings together researchers from diverse backgrounds to discuss challenges and opportunities of human-centred approaches in HRI. This third edition, “Designing Social Robots That Spark Children’s Creativity,” builds on the perspective that creativity is a fundamental component of children’s cognitive, emotional, and social development. Therefore, the workshop aims to explore how social robots can be designed to enhance, empower, and sustain children’s creativity skills. The program includes a participatory panel discussion that invites multiple perspectives to provide practical design guidelines for HRI research.
The workshop offers the opportunity to experiment, connect, and shape the future of HRI to researchers, designers, artists, and developers. Desired outcomes cover insights into how Children-Robot Interaction design choices affect the interaction, socialness, and outcomes on empowerment, and co-creativity. The workshop will include a keynote speech, presentations and discussion of the attendees’ contributions, and will conclude with a structured panel discussion to synthesize findings and discuss general issues related to the role and perception of social robots, working towards guidelines for the design of social robots for children’s creative empowerment.
We invite contributions from researchers and practitioners in HRI, AI, psychology, design, arts, education, healthcare, and other related fields.
