Call for Papers

Building on the discussions and outcomes of mobil.TUM 2025, which focused on growth strategies and innovations in mobility, mobil.TUM 2026 advances the dialogue toward system integration, real-world implementation, and societal impact.

mobil.TUM 2026 adopts a holistic, systems-oriented perspective on mobility. It is important to note that sustainable, intelligent, and inclusive transport solutions emerge at the intersection of technology, infrastructure, policy, and human behaviour. Moving beyond isolated technological advances, the conference aims to emphasize scalable, resilient, and context-sensitive mobility systems that can be embedded into existing and future transportation networks.

A distinctive focus of mobil.TUM 2026 is the central role of transportation infrastructure - understood not only as physical assets, but as long-lived socio-technical systems shaped by digitalization, governance structures, investment decisions, and societal needs. In line with TUM and NTU’s interdisciplinary research culture, mobil.TUM 2026 brings together contributions from engineering, planning, computer science, economics, public policy, and the social sciences.

The mobil.TUM International Scientific Conference on Mobility and Transport is a platform for practitioners and researchers to meet and exchange their knowledge and experiences. Traditionally, it takes place in Munich, Germany. The 15th edition of mobil.TUM will be held in Singapore, organized by TUM Asia and NTU. This is a unique opportunity, which enables keynote speakers from diverse and multi‐faceted research backgrounds to provoke debates, as well as presentations, discussions, and interactive networking formats. Moreover, the perspective from the Asian landscape presents an opportune moment, which will enable inspiration from the latest innovations and explore new directions which can help shape cities for a sustainable future.

Decarbonization strategies, climate-resilient transport systems, life-cycle assessment of vehicles and infrastructure, and integration of mobility with energy and environmental systems…

Artificial intelligence, digital twins, intelligent transport systems, real-time traffic and network management, connected mobility, and data governance for transport applications…

• Inclusive and Human-Centered Mobility

Accessibility, proximity, urban transitions, equity, universal design, behavioural insights, user experience, and participatory approaches to mobility planning and evaluation….

• Planning, Design and Construction of Resilient Transportation Infrastructure

Smart and sustainable rail/road infrastructure design, asset management, predictive maintenance, climate adaptation, digital transformation of legacy infrastructure, and long-term investment strategies…

• Multimodal & Integrated Mobility Systems

Mobility-as-a-Service, integration of public transport, active modes and micromobility, first- and last-mile solutions, and regional and inter-urban mobility systems…

• Policy, Governance, and Economics

Policy design and evaluation, regulation of emerging mobility services, infrastructure governance, pricing and financing mechanisms, and evidence-based decision-making….

• Freight, Logistics & Urban Goods Movement

Sustainable freight systems, last-mile logistics, digital platforms, passenger-freight interactions and resilient supply chains.

We invite original scientific contributions, applied research, methodological advances, and practice-oriented case studies that contribute to the advancement of sustainable, intelligent, and inclusive mobility systems. Submissions may address one or multiple themes and are encouraged to adopt interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral perspectives. Criteria for acceptance are:

• Relevance for the conference’s general topic and focus on selected topic areas
• Scientific quality in terms of methodologies applied and data handling
• Usefulness for practice is supported by successful implementations and/or relevance for scientific progress

Submission of proposals

Please submit your extended abstracts (1,000 – 1,500 words) including title, authors, affiliation, contact information of corresponding author, and keywords using the conference website.

Extended abstracts should include:

• Problem statement
• Research objectives
• Methodological approach
• (Expected) results

Authors of accepted proposals will be invited to optionally submit a full paper by October 10^th 2026 (4,000 – 6,000 words). Full papers handed in on time will benefit from a peer‐review.

Contributions will be included in the conference either as a presentation in the plenary sessions or as a poster to be presented and discussed in a dedicated poster session. After the conference, authors will be invited to update their papers or abstracts based on the reviews and conference discussions and send a final version by January 2^nd, 2027.

Important Dates

The registration fee covers the costs for admission to the conference, lunch and coffee breaks during the 3 days of the conference.

*Certificate of enrolment required. Fees applicable to both TUM/NTU and non-TUM/non-NTU PhD students.
