The Cybersecurity Skills Journal seeks to integrate and expand the methods, processes, and evidence of effective practices for skillful performance of cybersecurity job functions and roles by publishing systematic investigations that
- Advance worker, researcher, or instructor capabilities to raise the cybersecurity capability maturity of the nation's workforce
- Analyze, evaluate, improve, and measure techniques, tactics and procedures (TTPs) including –but not limited to– the use of technologies
- Design and deployment of instructional systems that raise capability maturity
Please see our open Calls for Proposals for complete descriptions of our current open Calls.
Submission Guidelines
CSJ uses a two-step submission process to encourage submissions aligned with our mission. Prospective authors are highly encouraged to review the Overview Presentation and attend a Proposal Development Workshop to understand the different paper types and submission requirements before submitting a proposal.
Our Manuscript Content Guidelines provide specifications for practice, instructional design, or research section manuscripts, and the Author Guidelines details the structured abstract format used by CSJ and the processes for developing accepted manuscripts. Abstracts on technical solutions that lack a substantive contribution for improving or teaching skillful performance of cybersecurity job functions and roles do not align with our mission and will not be considered.
All proposals must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or publication. Proposals for the following paper types are welcome:
- Dialogues capturing a discussion among stakeholders about dilemmas or previously insurmountable challenges to cybersecurity skills assessment, development, recruitment, or evaluation
- Notes which explore uncharted territory, rather than seeking to confirm or disconfirm the results of prior literature as is done in an article (1,000 - 2,500 words)
- Articles that support replication, validation, and generalization of practice, systematic investigation, or instructional methods and results(7,500 - 15,000 words).
CSJ Special Issues now accepting submissions in EasyChair
- NICE Framework Vol 2
- Cybersecurity Conference and Colloquium Sessions (3CS) Vol 2
